How to Update Your Email Password in cPanel and Apple Mail (macOS)
If you want to change your email password, you will first update it in cPanel, then update the saved password in Apple Mail on your Mac.
This guide walks through both steps.
Step 1: Change Your Email Password in cPanel

Log in to your cPanel account.

Scroll to the Email section.

Click Email Accounts.

Locate the email account you want to update.

Click Manage next to the account.

Under Security, enter a new password or click Generate to create a secure password.

Click Update Email Settings to save the new password.
Your email password has now been updated on the server.
Important: After changing the password in cPanel, you must update it on all devices that use this email account.
Step 2: Update the Password in Apple Mail
After changing the password in cPanel, update the stored password in Apple Mail.

Open the Mail app on your Mac.

Click Mail in the top menu bar.

Click Settings (or Preferences on older macOS versions).

Select the Accounts tab.

Select your email account from the left sidebar.
Step 3: Update the Incoming Mail Password

Click the Server Settings tab.

Under Incoming Mail Server, locate the Password field.

Enter your new email password.
Typical settings:

Host Name: mail.yourdomain.com

User Name: your full email address
-
Password: your new email password
Step 4: Update the Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)

In the same Server Settings section, locate Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP).

Update the Password with your new email password.

Confirm the following settings:

Host Name: mail.yourdomain.com

User Name: your full email address
-
Authentication: Password
-
Use TLS/SSL: Enabled
Step 5: Save and Test

Close the settings window to save changes.

Send a test email to confirm the account can send and receive messages.
