How to Update a Script Using Softaculous in cPanel

Softaculous makes it easy to keep your website applications up to date. Updating scripts regularly is important for security, stability, and new features.

This guide explains how to update an installed script using Softaculous in cPanel.


Step 1: Log in to cPanel

  1. Open your web browser.

  2. Go to your cPanel login page.

  1. Enter your cPanel username and password.

  2. Click Log in.


Step 2: Open Softaculous Apps Installer

  1. Scroll to the Software section in cPanel.

  2. Click Softaculous Apps Installer.

The Softaculous dashboard will open.


Step 3: View Your Installed Scripts

  1. In the Softaculous interface, click the Installations icon in the top menu (usually represented by a box or folder icon).

  2. You will see a list of all scripts installed under your account.

If an update is available, Softaculous will display an Update Available notice next to the script.


Step 4: Start the Script Update

  1. Locate the script you want to update.

  2. Click the Edit Details or Update icon next to the installation.

  3. Review the available version update.


Step 5: Create a Backup (Recommended)

Before updating, it is recommended to create a backup.

  1. Enable the option Create Backup Before Upgrading.

Step 6: Complete the Update
